Dolomites

I left the hotel yesterday morning and headed to the Giau Pass in the Dolomites, Italy, the pass rises to 2236 m which saw the temperature fall to 12°C, this means I have seen a 26°C fall in the temperature since I left Greece.
The roads were fantastic with sweeping hairpin bends, a great ride and for the majority of time with clear blue skies.
After finding a few more passes that rose to over 2000m I settled on a campsite at Sciare. The campsite is overlooked by sheer cliff faces they rise into the sky and look for all the world as if they are going to fall over onto you. I went for a run and was treated to heavy showers including hail.
It amazes me to think that I am paying the same price for one nights camping here that I paid for 1 nights accommodation, breakfast, dinner and 3 beers in Bulgaria, welcome back to Western Europe. Nevertheless it’s good to be back in the tent.
Its cold tonight, the campsite sits at an elevation of 1600m, glad I have a down sleeping bag with me.
