14 February 2019, Haast to Greymouth, New Zealand – 220 miles

Just before I set off it started to rain very heavily. After an hour or so I got ahead of the rain although ever time I stopped it caught me up again.

Today I planned to ride up the West coast which would take me past both Fox and Franz Josef glaciers.

You can just see Franz Josef Glazier in the middle of the picture

Parts of the coast road have spectacular scenery. Some sections of the road cut inland where you ride through flat lands that a fairly uninteresting.

My hotel this evening is at Greymouth, the town has a history of mining and Jade.
