The 112 mile ride to Braganca, Portugal was surprisingly interesting, the first two thirds of the journey was motorway, possibly the most interesting motorway I have driven on and at the G310GS comfortable pace of 60 to 65 mph I had time to take it in.
The ACT starts at Braganca and works its way south . The ACT is said to be suitable for big adventure bikes, at the start there are alternative sections so you can avoid some of the more difficult mountainous sections in Northern Portugal. I have never travelled the ACT before so I decided to choose a less difficult section for my first afternoon riding this route.
Well done to the organiser. I did 50 or so miles this afternoon, the majority on unpaved routes that were in the main relatively easy, some needed more care, overall great fun. Even the short tarmac sections were good fun on mountain roads with a good surface and no traffic, I really do mean no traffic.
Found a really good campsite at Mogadouro, 5.67 Euros for the night, and reasonably well cared for. Wandered into town for something to eat and to my surprise and perhaps disappointment the cider was Somersby’s from the UK.
