I was last in South America at the end of 2018. Since then we had a pandemic which stopped all adventure travel for a long time, far too long for my liking. For this adventure I am going to spend time in Chile and Argentina, their borders are open and whilst Chile has a tiered system for their response to COVID they are currently in the lowest level Tier1, subject to showing my vaccination certificate and the possibility of a random COVID test on arrival into the country I am free to travel and cross borders with Argentina. I have taken the precaution of registering and getting the Chilean Government to validate my vaccinations before I travel, if they move to higher tier this should still allow me to travel more freely.
Today I am heading to Heathrow, catching a flight to Madrid and then onto Santiago. A Chilean internal flight, a taxi ride and I will arrive in Osorno ready to collect my bike and head South.
