Saturday 4 March 2023 – 409Km
Today I cross the border into Argentina, crossing the border is relatively straight forward, lots of looking at and stamping passport, bike papers and other pieces of paper on both sides. Some for exiting Chile, others to enter Argentina.
Approaching the border I experience my first stretch of gravel, stop the bike, select off road mode and away you go. This was a relatively straightforward section of gravel, nevertheless I am immediately impressed by the Triumph’s capability on unpaved roads.
This was a long days ride and to get to the hotel in Bariloche for a 2 night stay, a pleasant hotel with friendly staff and secure underground parking for the bike.
Bariloche is known for its Swiss Architecture and chocolate. The town sits at the end of Lake Naheul Huapi, a very large lake that I rode along the side of for many kilometres to get to the town.
I managed to take a wrong turning and rode 35Km in the wrong direction, I stopped at a cafe realised my error and turned around. Never mind a 70Km ride on a gravel road was a good reward for the navigation error.
Dinner in an Italian restaurant washed down with an Argentinian Malbec, a good end to a long tiring day.
