Stayed the night at the Villa Park Hotel, Zagan, Poland. Stalag Luft III was built at Zagan made famous by the 1963 Great Escape film. Do I look a bit like Steve MCQueen?
On our last night camping at Colditz we met Tony and Sian with their 2 boys aged 8 and 10. They had sold up and headed off for a year in the camper van, schooling the children along the way, Sian left a job as a teacher in the UK which must give her the necessary skills. Great company, really enjoyed the little time we had with them.
They visited our tents the next morning so their boys could be photographed sat on the bike.
The road to Zagan was pretty uninspiring, too much motorway. After a few beers at the hotel I checked out Trip Advisor and found a recommended restaurant 10 mins walk from the hotel. Heading to Auschwitz tomorrow, the nearest campsite seems to be 20+miles away so opted for 2 nights in a hotel walking distance from the museum. Not sure how I am going to react to the museum, guess I will find out tomorrow.
