Penguin Colony

Tuesday 4 December 2018 Comodoro Rivadavia to Puerto Madryn, Argentina – 350 miles

The first part of the route in the video is incorrect, still worth a look

The Penguin Colony at Punta Tomba was worth visiting, despite the gravel road. Once I left the tarmac there was 49 miles of gravel to get to the colony. As each mile went by the gravel got deeper and more difficult to ride.

I hadn’t spotted the deep patch of sand that the ever present Patagonian wind pushed me into. The only thing hurt was my pride!

There was less noise from the colony that I expected, all quiet and serene. The eggs had hatched and the young were being cared for in their burrows. I guess the competition of the breeding season was over and catching fish to feed the youngsters was now the priority.

Keep out of the sand?

More wildlife among the Penguin colony
